Step 5 - The Support Bracket & Spring Clip
The instructions say to move the support bracket (the bracket that holds the support tube to the block) one bolt hole back. On early engines there were panels on the side of the block that allowed this. On my car and other later engines there is no such bolt. You will have to make do with the support bracket as is. More about the bracket later.
I did not have the "spring clip" mentioned in the instructions. I used the end of a hose clamp for this purpose.
Step 6 - Fuel Line
I did not have a fuel line with my kit.
I cut the fuel line from the carb side of an old 190SL fuel line and attached it to the output side of the fuel pump.
I bent some brake line to fit, flared the ends and added a compression fitting to the fuel pump line.
Step 7 - Reconfigure the Throttle Control
The instructions say to use the old throttle control parts, reversing one of the ends and drilling a pilot hole to hold the set screw. This is the re-drilled shaft of the throttle control shaft.
The instructions also say the drill a new 1/8" hole in the short lever arm.
