Step 4 - Installing the Radiator

Although this is step 4, I would wait until later in the installation process before installing the radiator.

I had to trim the shields on either side of the radiator. To do this I dropped the radiator back in place and marked the inside of the shields along the sides of the radiator. I found that I had to remove more shield on the left side than the right. The cut edge of the left shield had to be re-welded because it is made of a number of metal layers.

Here is the trimmed left shield. Notice how that the hold-downs for the right brake line have been removed and that the brake line is pushed down below the level of the radiator.

I installed the new lower radiator supports loosely at first. I put the original rubber grommets and washers on the  studs under and above the lower radiator bracket.

The top of the radiator was tilted forward so that it is now held in place by one bolt of each side.

I tightened all the nuts so the radiator is secure.
