Included with my kit were:
- The Supercharger
- A Holley carburetor
- Manifold locknuts
- A Marvel Mystery oiler
- Air filter, adapter and clamp
- Crankshaft pulley
- Fan spacer
- Oiler hose
- 2 Fan Belts (Dayco 44515 15445DR)
- Photocopy of the Judson instruction booklet
- Judson and Marvel decals
There are some parts that did not come with my kit
including:
- Radiator spacers
- Air filter "snorkel"
- Intake gaskets
- Thin washers for the manifold bolts
- Support
- Clip for throttle spring
- Fuel line
- Marvel Mystery Oil
- Spark plugs (Champion 123 RN5C)
The supercharger looked so good compared to my engine bay
that I decided to clean it up first which led to pulling and rebuilding the
engine, delaying the completion of my project significantly.
The instructions I received are useful to a point. Since
they were photocopied the pictures are not clear requiring some
imagination in some steps.
I'll try to describe the areas that were of
concern during my installation:
Step 1 - Part Removal:
Most of the parts removed in this step will not
be reused except:
- The carburetor support tube. I understand that
they have been lost on some cars. The Judson weighs a lot and has to support
the two belts as well so it is important to have the original or a
substitute.
- The fitting that attaches the fuel line to the
fuel pump. If you think you might reinstall the Solexes later, buy an extra
fuel line or fitting.
- If you have the air intake snorkel, the
flexible hose from the air cleaner to the carb will be reused.
- The radiator will be relocated
- The generator belt
- Throttle control
- Throttle rod
- Throttle spring
I removed the hood for better access.
Step 2 - Grinding the Fan Blades:

Only the trailing edges of two of the blades need to be ground down.
Although I didn't have any problem, the fan is
made of magnesium which may ignite while you are grinding it. Have a fire
extinguisher available. A bench grinder is all that was required to do this.
